POC Growth Rate is Off the Charts

Portsmouth, NH (Ski Press)-According to the Swedish sports industry magazine Sportfack, the protective gear company POC had the highest growth rate in the Swedish sports industry in 2008/2009. In an otherwise contracting market, POC grew 110%.

“Since our humble beginnings in 2004 we have had fantastic growth every year. The rapid expansion continues as we move into 2009/2010 and we are happy to see that the growth of the company’s 25 markets is more or less the same,” said Stefan Ytterborn CEO and Founder of POC. “The winter pre-orders are up by 65% compared to last year. For the coming season we are producing close to 70 thousand ski helmets. A number that has grown from 2, 10, 15, 35 and now 70 thousand. Our first bike collection, launched to the consumer market a month ago was sold out before it arrived in stores.”

Opedix Scores Knee Support Patent

Vail, Colo. (Ski Press)-Opedix received U.S. Patent No. 7,516,498 for their Knee Support System, issuing April 14, 2009.“This represents the culmination of several years of hard work, correspondence and legal involvement, but we got it done,” said David Gustafson, President of Opedix. “A special thanks to everyone who has worked so hard on this, and especially Dr. Michael Torry and Kim Gustafson. We've literally taken this from a concept in someone's mind to Intellectually Property, and it was well worth the effort.  I couldn’t be more proud.”

The Opedix patent covers their unique garment with built-in “Knee Support System". The Opedix Knee Support System uses a proprietary non-stretch fabric in a banding system that aligns the knee joint better without restricting the knee cap's natural movement.  This improved alignment helps increase stability and reduces wear and tear of the knee joint.
