Levi, Finland (Ski Press)-The race in Levi World Cup got its final confirmation on Monday when International Ski Federation confirmed that there is enough snow in the Levi Black slope. The snow control pointed out that the snow situation is better than ever.

“(The) situation with the snow is better than ever before in this time of year. We have succeeded in snowing and shaping the Levi Black very well. There is also enough snow in the safety areas. Hans Pieren, the Race Director of International Ski Federation was very satisfied with the conditions on the race slope,” said Tapio Kokko the Chief of Race of Levi World Cup.

Next step in finishing the race slope is injecting which means freezing the hill with about two million liters of water. Injecting makes the hill more durable for the race.

“The weather might be a little bit challenging in next few days, but I believe that we will finish injecting until Wednesday evening. We will also work during the nighttime if it’s necessary,” Kokko added.

Construction of the race area will continue on next Monday. The biggest task is building the fences of the safety area and setting up the finish area, safety mats and advertisement boards. Depending on the weather conditions there might be also need to remove extra snow from the slope.
