Cincinnati, Ohio (Mtn Press)-It ain’t mountain country, but the 8th Annual Ohio River Way Paddlefest has become one of the nation’s pre-eminent events for celebrating the heritage of our waterways and for getting a paddle in the water with lots of river loving friends.

Celebrate, promote and protect the beauty of the Ohio River at the 8th Annual Ohio River Way Paddlefest on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27, 2009. There will also be two great races on two great rivers in two great states on the same day, June 27, 2009. Race on the Ohio at Paddlefest in Cincinnati, in either the 14 mile pro or 9 mile amateur race starting at 7:30 a.m. Then race on Indiana's Whitewater in a 8.4 mile run with dam-release starting at 1:00 p.m. just 44 miles from the Paddlefest finish line.

The Ohio River is closed to barge and power boat traffic until 12:30pm., and then you can continue the celebration at the Finish Line Festival at the Serpentine Wall. (music, refreshments, vendors, Dragon Boat Races, etc.) Shuttle buses will return you to your vehicle at Coney Island. Return to the Public Landing to pick up your boat.

Great bands, lots of outfitters and exhibits, free canoeing on Lake Como, boat demo, silent auction, wooden boat show, paddling films, great beer, tasty food and wonderful company. Check out more right here: http://ohioriverway.org/paddlefest/
