Holy Huckleberries.

Your taste buds will be saying that and more at the annual Huckleberry Festival at Idaho’s Schweitzer Mountain on Aug. 3. While the resort was ranked by Skiing magazine as the third-best in North America for tree skiing, it would rank up at the top for huckleberry hounding. The event features a huckleberry pancake feed, hosted huckleberry-picking hikes, a huckleberry pie eating contest, special huckleberry-themed village activities, and live music will make this one huck of a great day.

“This is Schweitzer’s way of honoring the great northwest icon,” says Schweitzer Mountain Resort’s Jennifer Ekstrom. “And it looks like it’s shaping up to be a great picking season.” To get your complete huckle on, follow this schedule (and don’t forget to leave ample time for cleaning your purple-stained lips: Huckleberry pancake breakfast: 8 amHosted huckleberry hikes: 9 am – 12 pm.Live entertainment in Schweitzer Village: 1 pm – 4 pmHands on craft:making for the whole family: 12 pm – 4 pmHuckleberry pie eating contest: 2 pmBBQ lunch: 11 am – 4 pmVendors offering huckleberry food, gifts, art and crafts: 10 am – 4 pm Info: 208.255.3081, www.schweitzer.com  Â
