Next stop, Portland.

That sums up the cycling sentiment for Bueno Aires BMX rider Daniel Dhers, who, on the heels of last month’s Panasonic Open win, clinched his second BMX Park win of the 2008 Mountain Dew Tour at the Right Guard Open in Cleveland, Ohio. The Right Guard event was the second stop on the 4th Annual Action Sports Dew Tour (AST).

"As the season continues, I’m starting to feel more comfortable and confident with my tricks," says Dhers. "I am really stoked with the way things are going right now, especially since the X Games and Wendy's International Open (third stop of the Dew Tour) are right around the corner."

Dhers posted the highest score of the day, ensuring his overall victory by hitting four 720s in his first run, a no-handed corked 720, and his patented no-footed can-can to late tail whips. Other competitors like Mike Spinner and Rob Darden gave Dhers a run for his money with a quadruple tail whip and a fast bar spin transfer into the spine from the Nike 6.0 sub, but in the end had to settle for second and third place, respectively.

Dhers, 22, was born in Caracas, Venezuela and has been biking for close to 10 years. He came onto the competitive BMX Park scene approximately two years ago. His dedication has led to continual victories and a steadfast reputation as a top competitor on the Mountain Dew Tour. In 2007, Dhers won three out of five AST Dew Tour stops, the Dew Cup BMX Park overall, the X-Games 13, and the Masters in Germany.

"It’s been great to watch Daniel consistently improve from one competition to the next," says Jarka Duba, CEO of helmet sponsor POC USA. "He seems to be peaking at the perfect time."

Next stop on the Dew Tour is the Wendy's International Open in Portland, OR, August 21-24, 2008.
