Grand Targhee, Wyo. (Ski Press)-Grand Targhee Resort opens for its 39th winter season on Saturday, November 22nd at 9am. The Teton Valley’s recent snowfall and continued momentum from last winter’s 700 inches of powder have resort officials optimistic for another great season. This October and November’s storms dropped just enough snow on the west slope of the Tetons in the past couple of weeks to allow for the resort to open with the Shoshone lift. “We are eager to showcase the great on-mountain improvements and food and beverage outlet renovations our guests will experience here this season, but most importantly we’ll be riding the lifts on Saturday the 22nd and that’s all we need to celebrate the start of another season at Grand Targhee,” said resort spokes person David Hudacsko. In Vermont, Mount Snow will also open its slopes to skiers and riders on Saturday, Nov. 22. Thanks to a solid week of snowmaking and a little help from natural accumulation, Vermont’s southernmost ski resort will start the season with five top-to-bottom runs on three mountain faces, including two full terrain parks and three high speed lifts. 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16 marked the beginning of an intensive weeklong snowmaking effort. Mount Snow’s fan guns blanketed trails on the Main Face including Canyon, Standard, Deer Run and Long John, in addition to The Gulch and Nitro on the Carinthia face. Chute, on the North Face, will receive enough attention late in the week to be ready by opening day. Learning terrain will also be open near the Discovery Center. |
