A 63-year-old Vail ski bum and Vietnam veteran is being charged with the murder of a 70-year-old Carbondale man following a shooting Saturday night in West Vail, Colorado.

According to police reports Richard “Rossi” Moreau opened fire at West Vail’s Sandbar and Grill after bar management had tried to throw him out.

Moreau killed one man, and wounded three others. He is scheduled to appear in court today (Monday) to face a count of first-degree murder and several other charges.

According to a story in the Denver Post, Moreau was a longstanding member of the Ravinos, a locally famous group of freestyle skiers that formed in the area in the area in the early ’70s.
